Those beautiful blossoms belong to a Kalanchoe Blossfeldiana, probably better known as a Flaming Katy or Christmas Kalanchoe. It blooms typically in winter and therefore is the only blooming plant on the office window sill at the moment.
That plant is something for those who struggle to keep plants alive. They are VERY easy to take care of…they may even be thankful for a little neglect. Water them every now and then and that’s it. If the soil gets dry between waterings, that’s ok. They can take it.
I bought this one last year shortly before Halloween. Its petals are bright orange and they came in an organge pot that has the shape of a pumpkin and the face of a Jack-o-Lantern is painted on it. Too cute!
Very often, when the blossoms die, these plants are thrown away. They are cheep… easy to get a fresh and new one. I didn’t though and was delighted to see when it came back this winter. I love it so much and it’s a bright and friendly spot to look at in the office. I thought it should be honored with a Photo of the Day and here it is :-).
